Dr. Umair Malik has been with us a short time, but has already hit the ground running, with a filling panel of patients at North Country Primary Care.
He was born and raised in Montreal, so is no stranger to the winters of the Northeast.
Umair tried out the business track, along with pharmaceutical quality work, and then applied to medical school, knowing he wanted to ultimately become a primary care/ family medicine doctor. Dr. Malik received his Doctorate of Medicine from St. George’s
University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, and he chose the global health track, which allowed him to do a year in the United Kingdom, a year in the Caribbean and a year in New York, all through Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. This gave him a broad perspective on healthcare, particularly having grown up in the Canadian healthcare system.
Dr. Malik is looking forward to purchasing some property and trying his hand at hobby farming, something his father even did a little of in the city. He has already lined up some ski lessons and perhaps his five year old daughter, Rayya, will take to it quickly too.
As most of us, the physician has a passion for food and can be easily persuaded by a good home cooked meal.
