PADDLE – RUN -BIKE
The Kingdom’s MOST scenic race!
PADDLE 2 MILES
International Lake Memphremagog is the most enchanting lake in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom – and one of the most peaceful lakes in the northeast. The race begins with a shotgun start from Newport’s shoreside walking path overlooking Newport’s quaint and welcoming waterfront – then paddle north towards 129 acres of historic rolling farmland, otherwise known as “Indian Point.”
Kayak rentals available – supplies limited.
RUN 2.5 MILES
Once transitioned from paddling, you will begin your 2.5 mile run through the beautiful mowed fields of the Bluff Farm and on to the breathtaking Lake Memphremagog waterfront bike path. At the second transition you will gear up for the final leg of the race and begin pedaling across Vermont’s 45th latitude – midway to the north pole and the equator… only 3117 more miles to the North Pole!
BIKE 12 MILES
This is an incredibly scenic bike route in addition to its unique location on the globe – exactly halfway to the North Pole and the Equator, otherwise known as the 45th Latitude – hence the name was born, “The Lat45 Challenge”!
You will cycle right up to the
U.S./Canadian border and continue along where you’ll also be crossing the 45th latitude for the first time in the race. You’ll begin heading south again back towards Newport
crossing the 45th latitude a second time and eventually the finish at
North Country Hospital.
